BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Community Building

August 17, 2022

 

Attending board members: Barb Safiran, Sue Aldred, Sid Dev, and Mayor Dave Mueller. Matt Benecke,  Mandy Donovan, and Julius Maes were Absent.

 

Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.

 

Guest – Grant Gerrond – Discussion of holes on North Street. The Village will be fixing the streets in a couple of weeks.

 

July Board Minutes, July Treasurers’ Report, and August Invoices payable

Motion to approve Barb Safiran, 2nd Sid Dev, roll call vote all ayes, Sue Aldred abstained.

Add Solar bill for $724.30 to approved bills.

Barb Safiran made a motion to roll over the CD at Community State Bank, 2nd Sid Dev, All ayes.

Sid Dev made a motion to close the Water Looping account and put that money towards the loan, roll call vote, all ayes.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Water and Sewer – Sid Dev/Markus Chapman – No water issues. Sewer dept replaced a control box on grinder pump last Monday. MVP pulled two (2) pumps on Commercial Street. It was stuffed with baby wipes. We had to call DePauw Septic to clean it out.

Community Events & Building Permits – Barb Safiran –No Permits.

Ordinances and Garbage Collection – Sue Aldred –. Sent out letters about cleaning up yards. We will be putting a lien on a property that didn’t get cleaned up. We haven’t received a response from that property owner.

Police, Emergency Plan – Mandy Donovan – Nothing to report

Streets – Matt Benecke – Ace in the Hole will be starting on our streets soon.

Village Equipment – Julius Maes – Nothing to report.

Finance, Insurance, License & Fees – Dave Mueller – Monthly budget discussion.  

 

MAYOR’S REPORT

Housing Rehab Round 2 – We need 10 more surveys filled out.

Water Meter Project – Meters for every house, readers $65,000, Software $9,500, Tablet $8,500.

Rebild Main Street Grant – Waiting to hear if we will receive the grant.

Nextlink Contract – Working on negotiation with New Net Wave and Nextlink.

Sidewalk Ordinance- working on it

Animal Ordinance- working on it.

Electronic Sign – The sign has been ordered.  Martin Engineering will reimburse us for the sign.

Shelter in the Park/Concrete for Cannon – The cannon is getting rehabilitated.

Ordinance 778 – Drug & Alcohol Policy/Ordinance – will be discussed next month.

 

A Motion to Adjourn made by Sid Dev, 2nd Barb Safiran, motion carried.
