BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Community Building 7:00 PM

March 17, 2021

 

Attending board members: Barb Safiran, Sid Dev, Sue Aldred, Mandy Donovan, Ken Snyder, Gene Costin, and Mayor Dave Mueller.

 

Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.

 

The owners of 111 Commercial Street are cleaning up and repairing the property. They are requesting a liquor license. The board will discuss.

 

February Board Minutes, February Treasurers’ Report, and March Invoices payable

Motion to approve Gene Costin, 2nd Sid Dev, roll call vote all ayes.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Finance, Insurance, License & Fees – Ken Snyder – Nothing to report.

Water and Sewer – Sid Dev/Markus Chapman – Altorfer repaired the generator at the water plant.

Community Events & Building Permits – Barb Safiran – No permits. Ready for the Easter Egg Hunt on April 3rd. Kewanee High School Band will march in the Picnic Day Parade and will set up in the park.

Ordinances and Garbage Collection – Sue Aldred – Nothing to report.

Police, Emergency Plan – Mandy Donovan – Shaun Gruszeczka will be returning to work once he is released from knee injury.

Public Works – Eugene Costin – Nothing to report.

 

MAYOR’S REPORT

Housing Grant – Connie from NCICG inspected 13 homes. Committee Meeting on March 24th.

Neponset Park Improvement – Memorial is complete, just waiting on the ground to dry up before installing. Will be discussing landscaping. Letters will be going out asking for donations. Balance $25,300.

Pump Station – Waiting on better weather.

Cameras in the Park – There is a camera on the southeast corner of the Community Building, one on the Fire Department, and a new light in the park that will shine on the memorial.

Grinder Pumps – We didn’t meet the criteria for the grant by 2 points. NCICG will be looking into this for us.

Liquor Licenses – Gene Costin made a motion to increase the number of our A & B liquor licenses by one, second Mandy Donovan, roll call vote all ayes.

Ordinance 767, Budget 5/1/2021 – 4/30/2022 – Sid Dev made a motion to accept the proposed budget, 2nd Barb Safiran, roll call vote all ayes.

Legion – the Legion has volunteered to take down our light poles and sandblast them, then put them back up.

Christmas Lights – Sid Dev made a motion to spend approximately $2,500 to purchase 10 new Christmas Decorations for Street lights. 2nd Gene Costin, roll call vote, all ayes.

 

Gene Costin made a motion to go into Executive Session, 2nd, Barb Safiran.

Barb Safiran made a motion to go into regular session, 2nd Mandy Donovan.

 

Barb Safiran made a motion to increase the yearly wages of the Village employees by $6,513.50. This increase will be effective May 1, 2021. 2nd Sid Dev, roll call vote, all ayes.

 

A Motion to Adjourn made by Gene Costin, 2nd Barb Safiran, motion carried.
