BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Community Building
May 18, 2022
Attending board members: Sid Dev, Barb Safiran, Mandy Donovan, Julius Maes, and Mayor Dave Mueller. Sue Aldred and Matt Benecke are Absent.
Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.
Guest – Job Joseph – Barb Safiran made a motion to accept the liquor license application for the Neponset Oasis, Julius Maes 2nd, roll call vote, all ayes.
April Board Minutes, April Treasurers’ Report, and May Invoices payable
Motion to approve Sid Dev, 2nd Barb Safiran, roll call vote all ayes.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Water and Sewer – Sid Dev/Markus Chapman – meters are ordered at @$145 per meter. They should be here in approximately 3-4 weeks. 24 Covers are on order.
Community Events & Building Permits – Barb Safiran – No permits. Picnic Day plans are going well. Looking for a band, and ordering T-shirts for the 5K Run. We have vendors and pony rides and a mechanical horse.
Ordinances and Garbage Collection – Sue Aldred – Nothing to Report.
Police, Emergency Plan – Mandy Donovan – Police are talking to people about kids on 4-wheelers.
Streets – Matt Benecke – Oil & Chipping of roads was discussed. Sid Dev made a motion to spend $60,000 out of the General Fund to oil & chip 4 miles, 2nd Barb Safiran, roll call; vote, all ayes.
Village Equipment – Julius Maes – Backhoe needs services. Mandy made a motion to purchase an engine for the X-Mark mower for $3,300, 2nd Sid Dev, roll call vote, all ayes.
Finance, Insurance, License & Fees – Dave Mueller – budget balances discussion.
MAYOR’S REPORT
Housing Grant – We are doing another round of the Housing Rehab Grant. They will be doing another low-income survey.
Neponset Park Improvement – Nothing new to report.
Rebild Main Street Grant – Waiting to hear if we will receive the grant.
Nextlink Contract – Working on negotiation with New Net Wave and Nextlink.
Electronics Disposal – Electronics disposal scheduled for May
Tire Pick up – we will have a tire pick-up in June.
Sidewalk Ordinance- working on it
Animal Ordinance- working on it.
Dumpsters- Sid Dev made a motion to purchase 3 new dumpsters ($965 each) from Sheffield, 2nd Barb Safiran, roll call vote all ayes.
Electronic Sign – looking into having an electronic sign by the highway. Martin Engineering is willing to pay for the sign.
A Motion to Adjourn made by Barb Safiran, 2nd Matt Benecke, motion carried.
