BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Zoom Meeting @ 7PM
November 18, 2020
Attending board members: Barb Safiran, Sue Aldred, Mandy Donovan, Ken Snyder, Gene Costin and Mayor Dave Mueller. Absent Sid Dev.
Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.
Guest, Gary Barnett from Jager Agency/Diamond Bros Insurance discussed insurance renewal for the Village. Barb Safiran made a motion to approve the renewal, 2nd Mandy Donovan, roll call vote all ayes.
October Board Minutes, October Treasurers’ Report and November Invoices payable
Motion to approve Barb Safiran, 2nd Sue Aldred, roll call vote all ayes.
Finance, Insurance, License & Fees – Ken Snyder – Nothing to report.
Water and Sewer – Sid Dev/Markus Chapman – Will be trying to find the manholes.
Community Events & Building Permits – Barb Safiran – No permits. Halloween was successful. At least 50 kids attended and at least 5 cars showed up for trunk or treat.
Ordinances and Garbage Collection – Sue Aldred – Nothing to report.
Police, Emergency Plan – Mandy Donovan – Eric has been working more hours at the Village.
Public Works – Eugene Costin –Nothing to report on the plow truck.
Housing Grant – NCICG is now accepting applications for the housing rehabilitation.
Shelter in the Park/Veteran’s Memorial – The flag poles are up, cement poured, and bricks are installed. We received $125 for the Sunshine Quilt. The 2nd quilt drawing is extended to December 25, 2020. We have several tickets left to sell. We received Donations in Jack Verbout’s name. Our account balance is approximately $22,000.
Scott Park Gazebo – We received $3,500 from insurance on the repair of the gazebo.
Pumping station will be put it this fall, by the old Sugar Bowl.
Attorney changes – Robert Russell is retiring from municipality work starting December 1, 2020. He recommended Jacob Frost. $150 per month retainer, additional services will be $195 per hour. To help reduce the cost all communication should come from the Mayor or Village Clerk. Jacob Frost is in Spring Valley. He does a lot of work in Bureau County, and two of his assistants live in Princeton. Getting paperwork to the courthouse will not be a problem. Barb Safiran made a motion to approve Ordinance 762 Retainer agreement with Jacob Frost, 2nd Mandy Donovan. Roll call vote all ayes.
